The journey begins…

Well, technically speaking we’ve been on the road for around four years now!

I’ve been homeschooling/unschooling Miya and Leia since their births (2006/2010), and have documented here and there and have bits and pieces of information on their “portfolio” everywhere. This blog is going to serve as a centralised, online journal (repository) of their homeschooling journey.

It will include everything relevant to our homeschooling lifestyle – nature walks and visits to the botanical gardens, volunteer work, travel, unit studies, weeks of art projects or simple lazy winter days spent reading in the sun. It will be going FORWARD from now (Miya almost 6 and Leia just having turned 2), but I will be back-posting some of the important things from our last few years of homeschooling too. Mainly to serve as ideas and inspiration for other homeschoolers/unschoolers and as I said, to be a kind of “proof” of educating my children (in case some government agency comes-a knocking) and of course, because it is great fun and a lovely way to keep historic records of my daughters GROWING UP and all their achievements (and failures!)!

I don’t quite know where we fall yet – on that strangely defined line which stretches from radical unschooling to rigid curriculum based school at home… But I think we definitely lie more towards an unschooling side, mixing in some “formal” unit studies and some worksheets, lap books and project folders every now and then, just because that’s the way it works right now and because Miya loves doing them.

As long as it is fun! :-)

This is an amazing journy. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride!
